Chairman says committee on target for California stem cell grants

Bob Klein, chairman of the committee that oversees the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, says the first grants from the state's $3 billion stem cell fund will be issued by the May deadline. The committee also is expected next month to take up the issue of whether to restrict the initial grants to nonprofit laboratories and universities because of intellectual property and profit issues.
