Detroit schools staff asked to take wage cuts

Today, the Detroit school district will give the state a deficit-elimination plan that includes 5% to 10% pay cuts for most of its 21,000 workers. The teachers union reacted angrily by pointing out that their salaries are not the cause of the $200 million shortfall.
