Group predicts Germany's retail sales will fall 1% in 2009

The HDE retail federation is forecasting a drop of as much as 1% in Germany's retail sales this year as unemployment increases. "For retailers, 2009 will without any doubt be a difficult year," said Stefan Genth, executive director at HDE. "The development on the [labour] market will be the decisive factor."
