Plan would overhaul regulation of New York high-rise construction

Robert LiMandri, commissioner of the New York City Buildings Department, unveiled a plan this week to overhaul how high-rise construction in the city is regulated. Last year, his office conducted an extensive review of crane, excavation and concrete operations that included visits to nearly 600 job sites. "After an exhaustive review of high-risk construction, we identified 41 specific ways that will help prevent accidents and raise accountability across the board," said LiMandri.
