Alabama casinos try to compete with Mississippi

Alabama casino operators have been trying to attract business from Mississippi riverboat casinos, but that competition may be winding down given the fact that Alabama Gov. Bob Riley has authorized raids on some casinos in his state. Three Alabama casinos closed their doors this week after being raided by the government, which holds that electronic bingo machines are a form of slot machines, which are illegal in the state. "Without bingo, our project is impossible," said Ronnie Gilley, developer of the Country Crossing entertainment complex near Dothan, Ala.
