BIO urges Sebelius to reconsider proposed limits on gene patents

BIO has called on HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to reject an advisory committee's proposals that would impose limits on the patenting of human genes and commercialization of genetic tests by companies and scientists. In a letter to Sebelius, the chief executive of the trade group and CEOs of prominent biotech firms said, "It is not the time to undertake or recommend policy changes that would undermine the foundations of American life science innovation."
