EGF may encourage blood cell production after radiation

Epidermal growth factor could help cancer patients produce blood cells faster after chemotherapy and radiation, an animal study suggests. The growth factor hastened the recovery of blood-producing stem cells following radiation exposure in mice, according to a report in the journal Nature Medicine.
