N.Y., Colo. are canine influenza hotbeds

According to a Colorado State University study, canine influenza is especially problematic in Colorado and New York. Veterinarian Wendy Hauser says infections can be serious, in part because the virus is relatively new and few dogs have immunity. Dr. Hauser reminds owners that vaccinating dogs is the best prevention.
