Papers pay flat fee for metered online subscription service

Digital Technology International’s Digital Paymeter application is being used by The Orange County Register of California, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, The Roanoke Times of Virginia and The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk, as they introduce metered online subscriptions this year. Under the DTI system, newspapers retain control of subscribers' data and pay a flat fee for the service.
