Social software is touted for enterprise collaboration

Enterprise social-networking software has the potential to promote collaborative efforts, speakers said at the IBM Connect conference. "Instead of trying to stop that proliferation of collaboration tools, what we want to do is gather the information and funnel it into a unified repository," said 3M's Jeffrey Berg. Creating a comprehensive system instead of focusing solely on e-mail was the challenge at Fluor, executive Say Lim said.
