Xcel to seek proposals for more wind capacity in Minn.

Xcel Energy informed Minnesota regulators that it is planning to solicit proposals for up to 200 megawatts of wind power capacity that would be eligible for the wind-energy Production Tax Credit. The utility does not need additional wind power capacity because it is already meeting the state's renewable portfolio standard, but it is "open to adding cost-effective wind projects that could provide long-term value to our customers," said Judy Poferl of Xcel Energy's Northern States Power Co. in Minnesota.
