CBO predicts continued slow increases in Medicare spending

Total Medicare spending is expected to grow about 6% a year through 2024, while spending per beneficiary is likely to grow by about 1.5% per year, according to the Congressional Budget Office. The forecast assumes a 24% reduction in payments to doctors, although lawmakers have repeatedly voided such cuts over the past decade.
