Sen. David Vitter, R-La., is optimistic about the Chemical Safety Improvement Act passing Congress this year and plans to make the bill a top priority. "There needs to be a core to the bill that cannot change. That includes my unwavering position that we need strong preemption as well as strong protection for confidential business information," Vitter said, speaking before executives at the American Cleaning Institute's Industry Convention. Reform of U.S. chemical laws was a major topic at industry briefings throughout ACI convention week.
