New Medicare law drawing companies eager to offer services

The new Medicare law providing a prescription drug benefit is attracting health plans and drug-benefit companies eager to cash in on "unprecedented growth" expected in the program over the next few years. Drug benefit managers will be needed to administer the coverage along with health plans once the benefit begins in 2006; part of the excitement in those two segments of the industry is the result of new estimates that the Medicare changes will be a third more expensive than originally revealed.
