Study: Medicare P4P program saves money, lives

Medicare hospital pay-for-performance lowers costs, reduces patient mortality rates and improves care, according to a study from Premier. The report says almost 70,000 patient deaths could be avoided and up to $4.5 billion could be saved each year if all U.S. hospitals could accomplish what the CMS project achieved.
