Musicians in England said learning about music and how to play an instrument has benefits in many areas of life, in response to a report about the inadequacy of music lessons in the country's schools. "Music can contribute to other aspects of a child's development -- boost self-esteem, better concentration and memory and so on," said Lis McCullough, chairwoman of the National Association of Music Educators.
