NCCN revises breast cancer guidelines

The National Comprehensive Cancer Network said it has updated its guidelines for breast cancer and breast cancer risk reduction to reflect the recent advances in treatments and changes to clinical policy standards in oncology. One notable addition says PET/CT scans for evaluating newly diagnosed patients with early-stage diseases should be used only when other staging tests provide questionable results.
