CDS prices compound angst about debt of European nations

Prices for credit default swap contracts on the debt of European nations have surged in recent weeks and increased again Thursday. The increases are attributed to concerns about the public finances of Spain, Greece, Portugal and other countries. The highly visible CDS moves are adding to investors' anxiety and putting pressures on global markets, analysts said.
