De Boer supports embattled IPCC head

Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, should not resign his position over the recent scandal regarding predictions in the IPCC's 2007 report on fragile ecosystems, says Yvo de Boer, the UN's chief climate official. "Yes, a mistake was made, but the rest of the science remains robust, is standing firmly and underpinning policy," de Boer said. Critics raised questions about the scientific basis for the report's prediction on Himalayan glacier melt.
