Cary Broome, who spent more than 20 years as a delivery driver, will open a frozen yogurt franchise with his wife later this month. Broome's foray into franchising is contributing to growth in the industry, which is expected to add about 14,000 establishments this year. For people like Broome, franchising offers a proven business model. "It's really scary to me because we don't have any business experience. That's why we chose a franchise," he said. In the past year, IFA has worked to increase assistance for would-be franchisees seeking funding with a campaign designed to bridge the gap between banks and franchisees.
