S.C. program analyzes nutritional content of school meals

All elementary schools in South Carolina can sign up for a free program to help students learn about nutrition. The program, Healthy Eating Decisions, analyzes menu information and identifies the healthiest food combination each day. Students also are recognized for eating healthier food. "Hopefully they will learn by this what foods are healthier than others, and if we teach them earlier on, they'll learn this behavior and it will become intrinsic," said David Pittman, developer of the program.
