Dell will become a private company in $24.4 billion deal

Dell said today that it will become a private company with a $24.4 billion transaction led by founder and CEO Michael Dell. Private-equity firm Silver Lake Partners will provide about $1 billion in cash for the deal, and Microsoft will put up a $2 billion loan. Michael Dell, who owns about 14% of the company, is providing some cash through MSD Capital. The company has 45 days to find another buyer.
