Starting a business can be scary, but it can also help women avoid the gender pay gap that exists in the corporate world, writes Belinda Parmar of Lady Geek. One study found that women in the U.K. who are established business owners make more than their male peers. "For women, an environment where financial reward is more closely tied to personal endeavor is extremely attractive," she writes.
