Will "comprehensive" immigration reform include same-sex couples?

LGBT and Latino groups face a difficult road in their push for an immigration reform package that includes a remedy for binational same-sex couples, some observers say. "If I were a Democratic Senate aide and this [issue] was a discussion in our staff meeting, I would tell our member that this is something you better be prepared to give up," said Frank Gilliam, dean of the Luskin School of Public Affairs at the University of California, Los Angeles. Rep. Mike Honda, D-Calif., says any reform package must address the issue; "Otherwise, we can't call it comprehensive."
