Chronic conditions linked to higher medical error rates in pediatric trauma patients

Pediatric trauma patients with chronic conditions were more vulnerable to medical errors compared with those without such conditions, according to a report published in the journal SAGE Open Medicine. Data on more than 123,000 trauma discharges in the Kids' Inpatient Database showed that diseases associated with blood and blood-forming organs and circulatory system disorders had among the highest rates of medical errors.
