Probiotics for very preterm infants

A probiotic mixture of Bifidobacteria (Bifidobacterium breve, bifidum, infantis and longum) and Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (2 × 109 colony-forming units per 0.5 g) administered just before a milk feed once a day reduces the frequency of necrotizing enterocolitis in very preterm infants in a neonatal intensive care unit.
