U.S. Lawmaker Targets Edison Failures

In a Feb. 4 letter, U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah, D-Pa., warned the newly formed Philadelphia School Reform Commission against hiring for-profit Edison Schools to manage low-performing schools in the district. Fattah cited several studies highlighting Edison's troubles, including one saying it mislead the public about its academic track record.
