106 firms apply for Medicare cards, AARP calls for "guidance"

Officials yesterday announced 106 companies -- pharmacy groups, insurers, PBMs and more -- applied to be sponsors of the temporary drug discount cards to be offered through the new Medicare law, though there are still questions about how the cards will work. "This will be complicated. We need to get clarity, guidance from the administration," said AARP's director of policy and legislative affairs.
