The buyout of Carlson's franchise travel agencies by two of its veteran executives, Mike Batt and Roger Block, is a show of support for the franchise and consortia programs, writes George Dooley. He says the move reveals the confidence Batt and Block have in the future of leisure travel sales and the role of travel agents. Dooley lists a number of benefits to belonging to an agency group, including their ability to work with ASTA for representation in Washington.
