Officials in Plainville, Conn., hope local voters will approve a proposal to buy Robertson Airport for $7.7 million, making it the state's fifth municipally owned airport. The town believes it could turn a profit by owning the airport and leasing out operations to Interstate Aviation, which has run the facility for 25 years. "From the numbers we're seeing, within a relatively short time, the town would be repaid from revenue from running the airport," said Town Manager Robert E. Lee. The FAA has said it would cover 95% of the purchase price in order to help preserve general aviation airports in Connecticut.
