Top U.S. lawmaker says mark-to-market revision possible

Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd said he sees the possibility of modifying mark-to-market accounting rules to help out banks without abandoning their fundamental principles. He made the comment to reporters after a hearing in which the committee searched for ways to ease accounting rules governing illiquid assets without completely abandoning mark-to-market principles.
