CREST trial examines durability of carotid stenosis treatments

Myriad factors contribute to the choice between stenting and surgery for patients with carotid stenosis, and research supports both options. Reblockage rates for the treatments are similar, according to a CREST trial analysis. Restenosis or occlusion after a two-year period occurred in 6% of the stent group and 6.3% among those who underwent endarterectomy.
