Honolulu gets OK to begin initial work on $5.27B rail project

Work can begin on a 20-mile, $5.27 billion rail project in Honolulu now that a letter of no prejudice has been received from the Federal Transit Administration. The letter means up to $184.7 million worth of construction can start, which will include building the first sections of raised guideways.
