Motorola wants 2.25% of sales in Apple patent case

Motorola is seeking potentially billions of dollars in licensing fees from Apple -- 2.25% of sales from some iPhones and iPads -- in the cellphone-makers' ongoing patent dispute, according to a letter dated Oct. 17 that was filed in court last month. Industry analysts, who noted it is unusual for a plaintiff to be so specific about damages being sought, speculated that Motorola might be angling to obtain an injunction against the sale of some Apple devices. Neither company provided comment.
