Physicians face challenges meeting reporting standards

Physicians will be challenged to meet standards for Medicare's physician quality reporting system and a value-based purchasing program in order to avoid payment penalties that kick in over the next few years. Participation in the still-voluntary quality reporting program has been limited so far, and medical groups are opposed to a pay-for-performance modifier included for value-based purchasing.
