Qantas chief warns of possible service cuts

If the Australian government adopts legislation that requires Qantas Airways to base most of its operations in the county -- including its budget carrier Jetstar -- or to pay a fee if it doesn't comply, Qantas will be forced to cut service to a number of cities, CEO Alan Joyce says. "Those of us running Qantas would have to face a choice: Allow Jetstar to fail within the confines of the Qantas Sale Act, or sell it to allow it to succeed outside it," he said.
