Tips for teaching students about Charles Dickens' work

The writer of this blog offers teachers several suggestions and resources for teaching students about Charles Dickens, who was born 200 years ago today. Among the available resources for lessons about the author is a website, What the Dickens?, which includes videos, creative-writing lesson plans and other information. An education pack also is available from the British Council and includes lesson plans and teaching ideas. The website, Dickens in Context, also offers primary sources from the British Library, intended to help explore "the social, cultural and political context in which Dickens was writing".
