Double dose of TXA reduces bleeding in study of knee procedure

Doubling the dose of tranexamic acid given intravenously was associated with reduced bleeding in total knee arthroplasty and may do away with the need for blood transfusion, according to a study in the journal International Orthopaedics. The risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism did not increase with the larger dose.
