Green roof to be installed on NYC convention center

A green roof is expected to be installed at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City by North Carolina-based Xero Flor. The company works with local farmers for the greenery and uses a roofing system of multiple layers designed in Germany. The roof is expected to reduce stormwater runoff by about 6.8 million gallons annually, and reduce heating and cooling costs by 26%.
