FDA announces safety requirements for makers of infant formula

The FDA has announced an interim final rule designed to raise the safety standards for manufacturing infant formula. The proposed rule would set up good manufacturing practices for the products, mandate notification when formulas were changed or new formulas introduced, and outline which manufacturing records and reports must be kept.
