MyPermissions aims to bring trust to data gathering in mobile apps

Getting permission to gather data from a potential user of a mobile application is no longer automatic, Paul Rubens writes, especially in this era of widely publicized data breaches. MyPermissions is offering a free certification process for developers that will certify apps as trustworthy. "Some apps ask for access to your phone log or your photos, and you start scratching your head as to why," MyPermissions CEO Olivier Amar says. "Sometimes, developers really need those permissions, but they don't have a way to explain that."
