In 1982, civil rights activist Bob Moses launched the Algebra Project, a national effort to improve the math skills of minority students. Expanding on Moses' program, Florida International University's Project Urban Success is giving children the confidence to learn while engaging their parents through tactics used by civil rights workers in the 1960s.
