Some question hotel Web site reviews

With stakes higher than ever in the hotel ratings game, some hotels have taken to urging their guests to report positive reviews to Web sites, such as TripAdvisor.com or IgoUgo.com. The sites claim to feature frank reviews by real guests, but in some cases, hotels have encouraged guests of offered perks for writing flattering reviews on the sites. Hotel executives say any effort they make in the process is aboveboard and American Hotel and Lodging Association spokeswoman Kathryn Potter says it's "up to each hotel or hotel company" on how to handle their reputation in Cyberspace.
