FDA gives tentative OK to Ranbaxy's generic Nexium

The FDA has given Indian drugmaker Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. provisional clearance for Nexium -- its generic version of AstraZeneca PLC's acid reflux and heartburn treatment -- in 20-mg and 40-mg capsules. AstraZeneca, however, says it holds patents valid from 2009 to 2019.
