Energy Dept. admits delay in handing out $37B of stimulus funds

Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu said that only a small portion of about $37 billion in economic-stimulus funds have been disbursed. Speaking before the Senate panel on energy and natural resources, Chu said that the slow pace is due to the complex review process and the difficulty state and local agencies face to cope with the added funding. "Many of these organizations aren't used to dealing with that magnitude of money," Chu added.
