Google working on smart phone that translates speech in real time

Google is working on creating a smart phone that will offer real-time speech-to-speech language translation, and company officials say the device could be available within a few years. "Clearly, for it to work smoothly, you need a combination of high-accuracy machine translation and high-accuracy voice recognition, and that's what we're working on," the company's head of translation services said. Google's online translation service currently offers text translation in 52 languages.
