Group lauds EPA's ruling on algae as an "advanced biofuel"

The Algal Biomass Organization praised the Environmental Protection Agency's recognition that algae-based biodiesel qualifies as an "advanced biofuel" under the updated renewable-fuel standard, according to Mary Rosenthal, ABO executive director. The statement comes after the EPA found that algae-based fuels emit at least 50% less greenhouse gases compared with conventional fuels.
