U.S. zoos face challenge of providing care to aging animals

The Tulsa Zoo is one of many zoos in the U.S. faced with a growing responsibility to care for aging animals. The increase in senior animal population in zoos can be attributed to advances in veterinary medicine, which has enabled more animals to receive vaccinations, health exams and dental care. A major challenge faced by Tulsa Zoo is a decline in its city funding.
