AMD to launch "Sea Islands" graphics chips next year

In 2013, Advanced Micro Devices plans to introduce the "Sea Islands" line of graphics chips, made with a 28-nanometer process, says Lisa Su, AMD's senior vice president and general manager for global business units. The parts will have third-generation DirectX 11 graphics capability and a second-generation Graphics Core Next architecture along with features of AMD's Heterogeneous System Architecture.
