Employers puzzle through the retirement-plan maze

Companies are trying steps such as auto-enrollment into 401(k)s and hybrid plans that come with a cash benefit in order to help workers save more for retirement in the post-pension era. Some are feeling pressured to do so in order to attract talent, while others see it as a way to keep unhappy and unproductive workers from clinging to their jobs because they can't afford to retire, experts say.
